Beckett's "Tricks"

It seems like Beck is doing something new everyday, so I should probably try to keep track of what he's doing and when. So here's his "tricks" as I call them, that he's doing now.
  • He gives kisses on demand. Sometimes just randomly too. It's so sweet. His kisses are open mouthed kisses, though. He hasn't figured out to close his mouth and pucker up yet, but it's still adorable.
  • He gives high-fives, and then laughs his head off. Because high-fives are hilarious.
  • He's walking like a pro, can bend over mid-walk to pick something off the ground and stand back up again, and we've even seen him stand up on his own from the ground without pulling up on something.
  • He says "bye" when someone's leaving, and waves.
  • He says "na na" (night night) when he's going to bed and waves bye to Dad before I take him to his bedroom.
  • He says "mo" when he wants more of something we're eating. Yesterday David had a cinnamon roll, and "mo" was heard every few seconds as Beck scarfed down part of it.
  • He knows that David is "dada" and will smile and point at David when he says it. He still doesn't say mama very often. Whatever.
  • When we're at Grandma Cheryl's house, he tries to say her dog Izzy's name. It comes out "Issy" in a very high pitched voice.
  • He says "gaga" for both grandma and grandpa.
  • And finally, my favorite one. If you ask him when he's eating, "Is that yummy?" He'll go "mmmmmm" and shake his head up and down dramatically. He even gets the eyebrows going with it. It's the cutest thing ever.
He's been doing all of these tricks for a little while now, but it all depends on his mood whether or not he'll do it that day. I feel like he did every one of these this weekend though. He's so much fun I can hardly stand it.

Just Playin' Around

Not much is new around here, at all. We've just been enjoying the great weather we've been having! We went to the park earlier today, and Beckett got to swing and go down a slide. He really loved watching all the bigger kids play. Then we came home and played inside with socks, shoes and sunglasses. Why do I even buy this kid toys?

He's a cool dude.

He LOVES his socks and shoes. He loves to wear them, and when he's not wearing them, he loves to play with them. He tries to put them on his feet, and it's hilarious to watch. Then he just carries them around the room wherever he goes.

Yep, that's a picnic table indoors. It's his newest toy, and he loves to crawl up on the seat and play with whatever toy he drug up there. We can't wait to play with it outside all summer long!

Bath fun, Beanbags and Black Eyes

Beckett's got a new favorite bath toy. It lights up and makes a fountain out of the water. He always tries to drink the water as it's spouting up. He gets confused when he picks it up and water quits coming out of it. It's quite hilarious.

We also got him a bean bag. We've been trying to find the perfect chair for him for months now, and I just can't seem to find exactly what I want. So we settled for a bean bag. It's an easy solution for now. And he loves it!

He's also gone from semi-walker to full-blown walker. He's walking all over the place!

He gets better every day, but he still has some pretty good falls every once in a while. His latest walking injury happened earlier today while he was over at Grandma Cheryl's. He fell and hit his eye on the leg of a chair, and has a pretty nice black eye to show for it.

(This picture doesn't do it justice.)

He's not mad though, can't bring this guy down for long.

(Sorry for the randomness, that's what happens when I try to catch up on everything all at once. I'll try to get better, promise.)

Camera Fun

I love my camera. I love taking pictures. I've been reading books and manuals, I've joined a website called Clickin Moms that has amazing resources for learning about photography, I'm signed up to take a workshop, and I've been taking pictures like crazy. I'm having so much fun, and I wonder why I didn't start this sooner. I've always been interested in photography, but have never taken my interest to the next level.

Actually I do know why it's taken me so long. Photography is an expensive hobby. Like, super expensive. Not only do you have to buy the camera, you have to buy additional lenses (if you want, but they can be a necessity), you have to buy a calibrator for your monitor, you have to buy editing software, and finally, you have to buy books, classes, workshops, memberships, etc to continue learning all about photography. There's a ton to learn, and so many resources out there. It's hard to limit myself, but of course I have to.

Lately I've been practicing taking pictures on some of my friends. It's been an amazing chance to practice for me, and who doesn't love having pictures of their family? Even if this does just remain a hobby for me, and I never get paid for it, I'll be happy. I love capturing the special moments in life. Maternity, newborns, and family shoots are what I'm interested in. Weddings are just scary to me. I'll stick to the small stuff for now (probably for forever).

Here's a few of my favorite pictures I've taken over the past couple months. Funny enough, I have yet to do some good pictures of Beckett. The pictures I take of him are more snap-shots. I've been wanting to take him to the park and get some fun pictures. Hopefully once the weather gets a little nicer we can do that. Alright, here is a small sample of what I've been doing lately:

Dislaimer: I am in no way a professional, and I know that. I'm just having fun, and learning as I go.
