Beckett is 11 Months Old!

Only one month until I have a toddler. A toddler. Whoa. Beckett's starting to act like a toddler, that's for sure. His personality and attitude is growing daily. He cracks me up all the time, and he loves to make me laugh. He will try to "sneak up" on me and "attack" me, all while I act like it's terrifying, and he just laughs and laughs. He'll hand me one of his toys, and I'll play with it for a second, do something silly with it and hand it back. He'll act like he's playing with it, do something silly also, and then hand it back to me and laugh. This game can go on for a very loooong time if I let it. We can just sit and play for hours, and I get so caught up in Beckett world. It's so much fun having a baby this age. Here's what he's doing this month:
  • Not walking yet. He's still just pulling up on anything and everything that he can grab onto and cruising around. He's getting more gutsy though, and I can see him trying stand alone here pretty soon. Not sure if he'll be walking by his first birthday, but he's surprised me before!
  • He now has six teeth. The two new ones are just popping through, and they're the next two on the top to come in.
  • We're about to start introducing whole cow's milk. I'm going to transition very slowly and hopefully he'll be fully on cow's milk by his first birthday or shortly after. We'll see how he does with it. We try new foods all the time, and there's really no food that he doesn't like. He especially loves pasta and yogurt melts.
  • He's still sleeping good! Not much else to say here, except that I hope it continues.
He's still obsessed with the dog food bowls. I pull dog food out of his mouth almost daily. It's not as if I just let him crawl over and grab the food, he finds this stuff out of nowhere. It can't really taste good, can it? You would think that one taste would've been enough to deter him.

Now for some pictures:

The kid loves cheerios.
Yes, he dumped the whole bag out, and continued to shake the bag until all the pieces were out. Good news though, he helped the dogs clean it up. Such a sweet boy he is.
Busted pulling the toilet paper off the roll.

This kid is so much fun I can hardly stand it. How did I get so lucky?

Merry Christmas!

Beckett's first Christmas was a success! We started off the festivities on Christmas Eve. I wanted to start the tradition of him opening up his Christmas pajamas the night before, so that's what we did.
Christmas morning we woke up and attempted to let Beck open his gifts from us and Santa. He couldn't care less about them. He would push the presents out of his way to get to his other toys. So I ended up unwrapping everything that I had just wrapped a couple days earlier. Then he was interested in the toys.

The aftermath. The puppies got bones in their stockings, too.

After presents at home, we packed up and headed down to Plattsmouth to go to church with my parents and David's mom. Then we went over to my parents' house for brunch and more presents. Again, Beckett had no interest in opening the presents, but once they were opened for him, he loved to play with his new toys.

Then we went home to spend the rest of the afternoon with our little family. David's mom came over later in the day to bring Beckett a couple presents.

All in all, it was a great day. We celebrate Christmas with my sister and her family this weekend, and with David's brother and his family a couple weeks from now. My brother called from Afghanistan while we were at my parents' house, so it was great that we got to talk to him on Christmas day! We are missing him this holiday season and can't wait for him to be back for good soon! Happy Holidays, everyone!

Oh Christmas Tree

We didn't put up our Christmas tree last year. Mostly because I was hugely pregnant and didn't want to mess with it. I knew we would put it up this year no matter what because it's Beckett's first Christmas. He loves playing with the ornaments down low and looking at the pretty lights on it.

We made this ornament for Beckett's first Christmas. The blue is his handprint. I got the idea from Pinterest (of course). I'm pretty impressed with how his hand turned out. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get a 10 month old to make an open handprint on something? It's next to impossible, but we did ok. That was our first and only try too. This was followed by blue paint all over my clothes and the carpet. Whoops.

It says, "Youngest child, Mom's favorite." Well it's true.

New Camera!

David surprised me with an early Christmas present....a new camera! One that I've wanted for a while now. He and his mother got it for our family, and I couldn't be happier! I'm going to learn all there is to learn about this camera, and have some fun taking pictures along the way. Here's our beauty!
Of course we've been going crazy taking pictures ever since we got it, just because it's so much fun. Here's a small sample:

Wedding Fun!

This last weekend, our good friends Heath and Jordan got married! David was a groomsman and I was a bridesmaid, so we spent the whole weekend in Lincoln doing all the fun wedding things. Rehearsal dinner Friday night, all day wedding preparations, then wedding, limo and reception Saturday, then recovery Sunday. It was a great time and we are so happy we could be a part in their happy day! Congratulations Heath and Jordan!

A little Tequilla Rose to start our day Saturday.

Cheers to the happy couple!

Christmas Came Early

The name of this post really should've been titled "Who Buys a Baby a Drum Set??" and the answer would've been my cousin, Kailin. Kailin and her boyfriend/my good friend, Jason, came over about a week ago and gave Beckett his first official Christmas presents. A drum set and a tent. Both take up a sufficient amount of space in our tiny house, but he loves them.

Just checking things out.

Playing with Auntie K

Now lets not forget that Jason has a four year old of his own, and he lives with Kailin and Jason part of the time. Needless to say, I've been searching for the "perfect" gift for him. If anybody knows what the loudest, most obnoxious toy ever made is, please let me know. Thanks!

Happy 10 Months Beckett!

Ok, I'm a day late with this one. There was a bunch of excitement yesterday because our close friends, Blake and Ashley, welcomed their first little baby boy into this world! Congratulations, and welcome Tucker! We went to visit them in the hospital, and I didn't remember to take his monthly picture until he was in bed. Oh well, it's just one day.

Anyways, holy crap. Beckett is 10 months old. He's into the double digits. Two months until he is ONE YEAR OLD. That blows my mind. I love the stage he's at right now. It's so easy to make him laugh, and seeing those little teeth in his smile just melts my heart. He's amazing. Here's the highlights of this past month:

  • He's still a crawling maniac. He's getting really speedy, too. He now pulls up on everything. The couch, his toy chest, me, anything he can get a good grip on, really. He's started cruising on the furniture a bit, too. Just one step closer to walking!
  • He still just has the same four teeth. Two on top and two on bottom. No new ones yet, although he has been a little more crabby and drooly (real word?) lately, so maybe something's creeping up.
  • He's eating all big boy food now, and still getting bottles, too. No more baby purees for him! He hasn't encountered a food he won't eat yet, including dog food. He's tried to eat it twice, and gets super mad when I take it out of his mouth. He'll thank me someday.
  • He sleeps through the night consistently, but is going through a phase (God, I hope it's a phase) where he's waking up early. Like 5am early. I feel lucky if we get to sleep in until 6am. Then there will be days when he blesses us with a 7am wakeup. Those days are good.
His hair is getting longer and thicker, and he's starting to look like a toddler instead of a baby, which is both heartbreaking and exciting at the same time. He likes to walk behind his little push toy, and if I could figure out how to post a video, I would show you proof. As always, I feel so lucky to be his mom. He's full of so much personality, and it just grows everyday. I can't wait to see what he does next! Now here are some pictures!

It was extremely hard to get him to sit still during these. Nearly impossible, actually.
